Engineering Project Specialist, New Product Introduction (NPI) for Global Consumer Device Company in San Diego, CA

Summary:The team is looking for an NPI (New product introduction) project specialist with experience in hardware and custom instrumentation and fixture procurement. The candidate should have a solid background in business negotiations, PLM systems, BOM (bill of materials), and contract manufacturing interactions. This individual should have strong analytical capabilities, be highly organized, independently motivated, and resourceful with the ability to prioritize and excel in a fast-paced environment. A successful candidate must be a high-energy tactical execution expert and a team player, with a friendly can-do attitude. Requires BS degree, plus at least 2 years related NPI procurement experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities:· Coordinate material and component entries in Agile, BOMs (bill of materials) readiness, purchase cycle order tracking and ETA’s, solve shipment and custom issues ensuring procurement cycle is completed at every milestone· Support NPI instrumentation, equipment, and fixture purchasing for multiple projects, including budget tracking, forecast, and implementation of finance policies at each build event until project maturity· Oversee purchase requests and confirm information with requesters, ensuring that justifications are cogent and thoroughly vetted, and follow approvals to ensure deadlines· Serve as the key point of contact for requesters, business operations, procurement, finance, and others to troubleshoot and resolve build demand, bill of materials, and purchase order issues· Support invoice preparation for goods receipt and documentation for quarterly audits· Work with accounts payable and finance to resolve invoice and credit processing issues· Support quote requests to suppliers including price verification, approval, and tracking· Document and Report in all above areas.

Key Qualifications:· Understanding of product lifecycle management (PLM) systems (Agile), and basic BOM components (preferably for hardware products)· Manage logistics of parts for builds, organizing and maintaining the data· Create Purchase Requisitions, maintain invoice tracking and Goods Receipts· Experience with overseas vendors, international shipments, and custom clearance· Detail-oriented accuracy and multitasking abilities· Excellent communication (written and verbal)

Preferred Skillsets:· Proficient in PLM systems (Agile), MS Excel, Tableau, or other database platforms SAP experience a plus
