In this job, you’ll be a key resource to preparing and implementing detailed maintenance, inspection, and construction plans, providing technical support, inspecting in progress and completed work as well as establishing and coordinating schedules and outages on a number of diverse grid transmission projects and program work. The Superintendent ensures that all aspects directly related to Transmission inspection, and maintenance construction activities are optimized, including; resource utilization, workload scheduling, construction and patrol crew productivity and safe work practices for an assigned Grid area. Patrol General Supervisor will be the gatekeeper of patrol notifications in SAP and oversee maintaining of warehouses, material storage, emergency stock, and yard at each grid hub directly, and all remote bases. TC&M organization and for achieving business unit goals and operational excellence. The Superintendent supports supervisory personnel in the execution of duties not directly related to the actual supervision of the patrol crews, thus reducing overtime expenses and increasing the safety and efficiencies of the patrol crews. This position also supports the Patrolmen’s efforts in the area of safe execution, performance evaluation, employee development, and training of the employees in the grid, which includes working closely with the Patrolman to manage the progression of Lineman on Patrol through on the job training for Patrolmen.As a Transmission Patrol General Supervisor ( Superintendent) , your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for everyone. Oversees the preparation of construction documentation such as schedules, manpower estimates, outage requests, accident and incident investigations, maintenance & inspection plans, compliance due dates, facilities management at the local grid base, operational compliance documentation (DVIR, driver’s files, and Tailboard forms), material needed to complete compliance dated jobs, ground rotation, tested rubber goods, TRT harness, reports, personnel evaluations.

Oversees Patrol crews, Energy Delivery, Distribution Specialist (EDDS) and construction crews as required.

Gathers information, analyzing data and providing detailed recommendations on inspection and maintenance construction methods and strategies, long range schedules and/or training requirements.

Implements T&D safety policies and programs, as well as how to implement and enforce a safety program.

Ensures appropriate training of subordinates, including career development.

Administers recognition and discipline.

Interfaces with subordinates, peers, and management regarding daily work activities.

Facilitates the availability of proper resources, tools, vehicles, materials and other equipment and the necessary training conducive to providing a safe working environment.

Mentors EDDS, Patrolmen and crew members, and continues the practical education and development of personnel by exposing them to activities, tasks and duties that will enhance their skill level, as well as build upon those skills they already possess through crew assignments and scheduling of work.

Conducts performance reviews, develops performance expectations, and provides developmental feedback and training with EDDS.

Interfaces, informs, negotiates and resolves issues and disputes with a number of diverse individuals and groups such as engineering, customers, clients, substation maintenance and test personnel, operations, outside suppliers, agencies and/or IBEW.

Assures accurate timekeeping/accounting (i.e., employee time off).

Performs frequent field operations and documenting safety information.

Assures all safety bulletin/issues are understood and creates full compliance.

Assures periodic safety meetings are timely and of quality content.

Verifies TC&M planning action accuracy and timely updates.

Performs other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Creates and maintains a safety conscious work environment by leading and influencing others to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.

QualificationsThe essentials

Four or more years of Transmission/Distribution Design, Construction/Maintenance experience, or experience supervising one or more of these disciplines

Must have working knowledge and understanding of the IBEW Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Must have a valid Driver’s License.

The preferred

Bachelor’s Degree in applicable profession, business, or technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Demonstrated experience with Transmission and/or Distribution electrical construction and wiring.

Demonstrated experience interpreting and performing inspections to specifications and drawings.

Demonstrated experience in the construction and/or maintenance, design, operation of transmission facilities.

Demonstrated experience with environmental compliance, safe work practices, construction/maintenance methods, techniques, tools and equipment.

Demonstrated knowledge of Transmission & Distribution standards, Operations Manuals, IBEW Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement and the Accident Prevention Manual safety rules.

Demonstrated ability to create and maintain a safety conscious work environment.

Experience leading or supervising employees performing skilled craft functions in the operation, construction, and maintenance of transmission.

Experience forecasting, tracking and maintaining operational and capital budgets.

Ability to manage multiple project activities, including planning and coordinating assignments, creating and editing reports, and providing updates

Thorough knowledge and understanding of company safety policies

Experience with SAP, MS Excel
