About the Role Uber Freight connects shippers with truckers, much like the way Uber connects riders and drivers. The Freight team believes that empowering truck drivers will bring more open, efficient, and increasingly safer transportation to our roads. What You'll Do Create the vision for Data and Data Warehousing across Uber Freight and create a plan to achieve that vision Guide the design, building, and launching of new data pipelines in production Partner with Engineering & Data Science Leads, Product Management & Data infrastructure teams to build shared goals Establish the processes needed to achieve operational excellence in all areas to improve data reliability & data quality at Freight Build a high-quality Data Platform team Drive data efforts related to major Freight / Uber wide initiatives: financial reporting, privacy, compliance, international expansion, resource planning and optimization. Drive data quality across the Uber Freight and bring in learnings from rest of Uber & industry Establish SLA's for all data sets and processes running in production Basic Qualificaitons Minimum 5 years industry experience in data analytics At least 2 years in driving data modeling as a data architect or another capacity At least 5 years of experience in people management (7-10 direct reports) Bachelors or higher in Math, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or other quantitative field preferred (advanced degrees are a plus) Advanced SQL expertise; experience in a scripting language for analysis (R, Python, etc) is a plus! Preferred Qualificaitons Experience with feature engineering, data warehousing, and working with data science. Track record of getting your hands dirty with messy data to identify product opportunities and uncover interesting product insights Strong storytelling: distill interesting and hard-to-find insights into a compelling, concise data story Ability to communicate effectively and manage relationships with stakeholders coming from both technical and non-technical backgrounds Passionate and attentive self-starters, great communicators, amazing follow-through - you have a great work ethic and love the responsibilities from being personally empowered
