The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco is looking for a Data Engineer to join the Advanced Data and Analytics Capabilities Team. We are a team based out of San Francisco that partners with business lines across all 12 districts of Federal Reserve System to deliver extensive data and advanced analytics products and solutions.

The Advanced Data and Analytics Capabilities team leads and develops data platform solutions for various business lines in the system, National IT and for the Board of Governors. We employ groundbreaking technologies using AWS native technologies which includes tools used for data integration, data modeling, and data analytics. You will have the opportunity to apply your critical thinking and technical skills across many fields.

Also, you will get an opportunity to broadly apply your engineering skills across various technology solutions, as well as build your skills in other areas by being exposed to various aspects of product delivery from inception, through design, build, and deployment.

You will be working multi-functionally with Product Managers, Architects, Engineers, Product Analysts, and Customer teams in a constantly evolving environment. We will work together from completing design documentation, to collaborating with other specialists and architects, developing Infrastructure as Code to launch server instances, install and configure software, among other things.

You will play a critical role in planning, design, and implementation of cloud-based infrastructure systems with both traditional and state-of-the-art infrastructures.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Computer science, Information Systems, or other related field or relevant work experience
  • 4+ years data engineering and programming skills in Java and/or Python, including knowledge of Big Data ecosystem
  • Experience in implementing IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and other software delivery methods in the AWS gov Cloud
  • Experience in developing Data Lakes using an end-to-end AWS native platform. Experience in S3, Glue, RedShift, RDS, DynamoDB, EMR, Crawlers, ETL, Catalog
  • Experience in EC2, Code Pipeline, Code Commit, Cloud Formation (Ansible or Terraform or other Infrastructure as a Code)
  • Experience in IAM, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, AWS Config, Guard Duty, Secrets Manager, Certificate Manager, KMS
  • Experience in Data Visualization Tool (Tableau hosted on EC2 or AWS Quick sight), Athena, OpenSearch Service / Elasticsearch Service
  • Hands on programming skills in Lambda functions, JAVA, Python, Scala, Shell, or any other scripting language.
  • Experience deploying code on Cloud based Infrastructure, with AWS strongly preferred.
  • Experience in GitLab or any other Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and Continuous Deployment software tools for code deployment
  • Proficient in Agile development practices
  • Understanding of security design for enterprise software systems
  • Knowledge of high-availability, Disaster Recovery, load-balancing and failover configurations across application, infrastructure, and platform
  • Good understanding of Financial Industry, Government Agencies, Federal Reserve Bank Lines of Business (LoBs) Applications
  • Must be a U.S Citizen or a Green Card holder with intent to become a U.S Citizen
Nice to have:
  • Working experience at Government or quasi-Government organizations
  • Cloud experience and using big data technologies on the Cloud
  • Professional experience optimizing machine learning workflows and maintaining data pipelines
  • Understanding of Database Migration Service
  • Experience integrating collibra with other cloud data platform technologies will be a plus
  • Hands-on experience with a variety of big data (Hadoop / Cloudera, Cloud, etc.) and machine learning (Spark, AWS Sage-Maker, etc.) technologies
