Unify Consulting is currently seeking an experienced data engineer and management consulting leader to join our firm as our
Data Engineering & Cloud Services Practice Director in San Francisco Bay Area. This role will be a key enabler of our growth strategy as we empower companies to be more data-driven by designing, developing, and supporting data integration and cloud migration strategies. The Data Engineering & Cloud Services Practice Director will contribute to the delivery of consulting projects, advising clients, providing thought leadership, and supporting pre-sales activities for a data engineering & cloud services management consulting practice. Responsibilities:- Develop the Data Engineering & Cloud Services Practice’s solution offerings, credentials, and client communications in collaboration with practice team members and leadership.
- Contribute to team sales efforts, including meeting with clients, sharing perspectives on data and analytics, architecting winning analytics solutions, and helping to close work. Contributions to solutions/proposals and to revenue generation will be success metrics.
- Communicate our practices and success stories to account management and business development teams to help increase selling of data engineering & cloud services solutions.
- Provide leadership and subject matter expertise to data & cloud projects across the firm.This role has a partial utilization expectation for delivery of consulting work.
- Provide strategy, guidance, and coaching for recruiting the right skills to meet market demand. Interview data engineering & cloud candidates to ensure quality hiring.
- Leverage and lead practice members to craft both internally and externally focused thought leadership such as data & cloud practice materials, sales decks, methodology, articles, POVs and develop offerings and campaigns.
- Attend/speak at industry conferences and events, increasing our brand awareness and building relationships.
- Keep current with the market and trends impacting our clients’ businesses.
- Grow our team of experienced consultants by training, mentoring, and inspiring.
- Manage practice logistics, such as career growth, hiring, mentoring, facilitating monthly practice meetings, attending sales meetings and pipeline reviews etc.
- Assist with managing technology partner relationships both by working with our existing partners to upskill our consultants and find joint client opportunities as well as assessing potential new partners.
- Extensive experience in management consulting with a focus on providing business value through data engineering and cloud technologies.
- Prior experience growing and managing consulting services by leading a practice, service line or the equivalent.
- Extensive experience selling and delivering Data Engineering & Cloud Services work with a track record of sales growth.
- Deep contacts in industry and with corporate decision-makers, ideally in the greater Chicago area.
- Strong evangelist with a passion for relationship building and management.

- Experience in data integration, data warehousing, and data modeling, preferably recent,
- Experience with relational database technologies (SQL Server, Oracle, Teradata, or similar)
- Experience with ETL/ELT tools such as Apache Spark, Informatica PowerCenter/BDM, Talend, Matillion, AWS Glue, DataStage, or similar
- Experience with custom ETL/ELT and programming/scripting language experience: Python, PHP, Perl, or Scala (Python required)
- Experience with developing dynamic data pipeline frameworks (with Apache Airflow for instance)
- Experience with developing on a Public Cloud Environment
- Experience working with large datasets and big data technologies, preferably cloud-based, such as Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, MongoDB, Cosmos, or similar
- Experience with NoSQL, Object-Oriented, Distributed databases
- Experience with data preparation tools (i.e. Alteryx)
- Familiarity with Data Visualization platforms (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Looker)
