Job Description

What’s it all about?

This role is within the Visa Direct Product team, in the Risk and Compliance group, responsible for developing and managing the control framework for Visa Direct.

Visa Direct is a high priority digital product, one of the top drivers of new revenue streams in Visa. Originators (senders) and Recipients (beneficiaries) derive value from real-time ‘push payment’ use cases such as:

· Person-to-person payments, both domestic and cross-border

· Payouts to suppliers to marketplace apps (eg. Uber, AirBnb, Amazon)

· Conventional disbursements (insurance, compensation claims, tax refunds)

Since the acquisition of Earthport, now called Visa Payments Limited, the Visa Direct product range is now expanded beyond push-to-card to include push-to-account, and in the future, push-to-wallet, allowing reach to over 99% of the world’s banked population, and driving even more opportunities for new revenue growth.

Building a world-class security value proposition is essential to the success of Visa Direct, as it is one of the key drivers of engagement and uptake by both originating and receiving clients, particularly for cross-border payments.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

· Developing a control framework for Visa Direct, aligned to Visa’s Control Standard, establishing quality assurance processes, roles and tools/capabilities to ensure Visa Direct clients, programs and transactions are compliant with Visa’s policies and risk management practices, including:

o Control effectiveness assessment

o Develop quality assessment program for Visa’s control framework and client tools, validating that controls and tools are working to design standards e.g., limits, data integrity controls, etc.

o Establish a framework for ongoing control assessment of client and program compliance

o Establishing any necessary remediation processes when controls and tools may not perform to design standards, including alerts, investigation, internal and external communications, etc.

o Establish processes and roles and responsibilities amongst stakeholders across the business to establish and embed the enhanced control framework for Visa Direct

What we expect of you, day to day:

In this fast-growing and dynamic environment, you need to be highly creative, flexible and responsive to ever-changing needs. With Visa Direct still very much a start-up within Visa, you need to be prepared to get your hands dirty, flexing from conceptual strategy work and presentations to senior executives, to project management and business case development.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to create the Visa Direct control framework, building on general Visa controls to craft a bespoke framework that will support the Visa Direct security proposition through rapid growth. You need to be able to deploy your expertise to build a robust framework and manage multiple stakeholders to bring the project to fruition.

Key responsibilities include:

  • In partnership with Compliance, Risk, Platform, and Policy teams, create and establish the risk assessment and control infrastructure for Visa Direct globally, including:
    • Build out enhancements of front-end internal processes and validation of requirements before a program is approved by Visa
    • Optimize control requirements and compliance for programs throughout the implementation lifecycle based on use case and risk profiles
    • Develop on-going monitoring, auditing and reporting for product compliance to ensure a sanitized ecosystem
    • Establish and manage remediation processes when controls, tools, or client standards fall below required standards, including alerts, investigation, internal and external communication
  • Collaborate with the Policy and Rules teams on changes to existing policies or the creation of new ones
  • Manage product control impacts due to product enhancements, new features, and new push payments products on the project roadmap
  • Lead the automation of key product controls with technology as needed
  • Prepare reports with control audit assessment results for senior management
  • Serve as the global lead for product controls to the regional counterparts
  • Support the execution of the Risk and Controls Self-Assessment (RCSA) program for Visa Direct
  • Provide input as required to the New Business Impact Assessment (NBIA) program as it relates to initiatives within Visa Direct

  • Escalate risks and issues as required through Visa’s risk governance channels
  • Manage and execute on strategic initiatives as needed
