Patient Transportation Aide

Patient Mobility Technician functions collaboratively on the unit/department with the guidance of the Registered Nurse or Technician who is responsible for the care of the patient. Patient Mobility Techs will work in pairs as a Patient Mobility Team and complete rounds. This position reports to the Patient Mobility Manager. Essential Functions: Functions as a member of the Patient Mobility Team (consisting of 2 trained technicians who work together) to provide assistance to the nursing/patient care services in the safe lifting, transferring and transporting of high risk patients (as identified through the patient mobilization risk screening process). Utilizes proper body mechanics, lifting techniques, and observes hospital and clinic protocols. Utilizes patient handling equipment, transfer devices, and protective equipment in compliance with hospital/clinic policies, vendor specifications, and patient handling and transporting protocols. Works cooperatively as part of the nursing/patient care services team and adheres to department and hospital/clinic policies and procedures. Demonstrates appropriate judgment in all aspects of patient care. Maintains patient and employee safety as a basic premise of all tasks performed. Must have the ability to recognize the needs and concerns of members, coworkers, and physicians while maintaining positive working relationships. Grade 85 Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED Experience or successful completion of training program Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification Knowledge of and skill in oral communication, written communication, interpersonal relations, and customer service Talking to co-workers, customers, outside vendors, and on the telephone Reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English Training/giving and receiving instructions Must be willing to work in a labor/management partnership environment.
