Job Description

Visa Directis a payment service that Visa provides to clients (issuers, acquirers, processors, merchants and service providers) to facilitate fund transfers/disbursements to Visa accounts around the world using push payment technology, i.e. Original Credit Transaction (OCT). Visa Direct consumer and business applications include person-to-person (P2P) transfer, person to micro-business transfer (e.g. payments to landscaper), funds disbursement (e.g. insurance claim disbursements), bill payment, cross-border remittance and more. Currently, the push payments market around the world is estimated to be an $80T opportunity.

This role will report into the Head of Global Partnerships and Strategy on the Visa Direct Specialized Sales Team. This team sits at the cross-section of sales and product with a mandate to accelerate growth for Visa Direct across the world. The

Sr. Director of Global Merchant Sales, Visa Directwill lead commercial opportunities across the largest and most strategic global merchants on the Visa Direct Global Team.

This role will be responsible for delivering commercial outcomes with global merchants and global originators across the Visa Direct business. We will be working in a fast paced, agile environment, so this person must be proactive and excel with internal and external partners to ensure we achieve our goals.

Visa is looking for an experienced global sales leader with a proven track record of success with large, multi-regional clients. In addition to business development experience, this a cross-functional team, so organizational savvy and interpersonal skills are critical.

Responsibilities include:

  • Own an aggressive global sales targetfor Visa Direct

  • Leverage internal and external relationships to develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline

  • Own the sales lifecycle from prospecting/sales pitch to contract signature for top priority global clients in partnership with AEs and other cross-functional partners

  • Lead work to overcome and remove internal and external blockers to achieve sales objectives

  • Work with finance business partners to structure high value, complex global commercial deal structures

  • Support local, in-market sales teams with top priority sales initiatives

  • Provide insight and market intelligence to global lead-generation initiatives

  • Build strong internal and external relationships

  • Work with Visa Direct Product and Client Services Teams to lead technical sales solutioning conversations with strategic clients as necessary

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA /JD/MD); or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD); PhD with 9+ years of experience
  • Creative Self-starter with a bias toward action and proven track record for successfully developing, building, launching and commercializing technology products that delight customers
  • Strong background of client/partnerships management, sales, and or business development preferably at a global or multi-market level
  • Industry related and leadership experience, includingexperience leading commercialization teams, product management, strategy organization and/or management consulting
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong focus on delivering for clients
  • Excellent listening and communication skills (both verbal and written), and executive presence; must be able to interface with senior client executives
  • Ability to explain complex business and technical concepts to audiences in an approachable way to influence and drive adaption
  • Passionate about what you do and excited about the opportunity to transform payments working for the industry leader
  • Possess a high level of professionalism and leadership skills to build business relationships, trust and respect with business partners and suppliers
  • Strong team player, self-motivated and the ability to work independently at coordinating across functional activities, and obtain buy-in
  • An advanced degree from a top school strongly preferred
  • Visa or financial/payment industry knowledge required; push payments or real-time payments experience a plus

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
