About the TeamWe're the Customer Identity Platform (CIP). Our team's mission is to create a unified and secure Uber identity that enables Uber products and partners to grow efficiently and at scale.We own signup and login, account management, and 3rd party authentication, which are one of the most visited (>100k requests/sec) experiences across the entire Uber ecosystem. As a Sr. Web software engineer, your work would be leveraged by the entire Uber ecosystem (Rider, Driver, Eats, Freight, Elevate, U4B etc.) as well as third party applications (e.g. Alipay, McDonalds etc).What You'll Do
- Help us revamp the signup and login experience that powers all Uber mobile & web properties (50+ surfaces).
- Design and develop identity web framework that are customizable and extensible to support multiple products and diverse use-cases, adapt seamlessly across desktop browser, mobile browser and web-views and adapts from broadband networks to 2G networks.
- Design and implement customer facing product features across web applications that have a direct impact on our business growth and customer experience across login, signup and account management.
- Ensure web properties scale to support millions of unique visitors globally as well as withstand increased traffic volume from attacks.
- 4+ years of software engineering experience
- You have strong command of a frontend stack (Javascript/HTML/CSS).
- Deep system design skills. You know how to build highly-scalable, robust, and fault-tolerant services that support our unique exponential growth requirements. You stay up to date with the latest architectural trends and have experience building systems for scale.
- Good written, verbal communication skills.
- Experience with frameworks like Flux/Redux
- Extensive experience working cross functionally with product, data, design, and engineering to build products from initial conception to testing and rollout.
- Ability to learn quickly on the go. We're looking for software engineers who thrive while learning new technologies and don't believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. You should be able to easily adapt to meet the needs of our massive growth and rapidly-evolving business environment.
- Experience in optimizing for low bandwidth and low latency scenarios
- Experience in web security / authentication.
