The Deputy Program Manager, Engineering role reports into the Space Engineering Operations organization and provides organizational leadership and execution ownership throughout a program. In this role you will work closely with executive sponsors, program leadership, and several engineering organizations to define, plan, and guide the as-scoped, on-time, on-budget execution of strategic programs. This role may also include contributing to business transformation efforts such as a maturing our program execution capability by establishing core program management methods, tools and resources, mindsets, practices, relationships, and processes at Maxar Space. This role will serve as a Deputy Program Manager with opportunity to potentially lead select Engineering Operations initiatives in the future.

Responsibilities:

The role is responsible for end-to-end development and delivery of technical and business solutions that meet evolving business needs. The following is expected:
  • Drive project managers and technical leaders to meet program requirements. Provide e nd-to-end program leadership from planning to business readiness/rollout, with daily focus on managing program milestones, scope, schedule, budget, quality, issues, changes, organizational change, communications, and risk.
  • Decompose business objectives into executable plans
  • Manage schedules, financials, dependencies, risks, issues, change control, and decision logs for the program
  • Manage and communicate program health to internal project teams, the executive leadership team, and to customers/clients
  • Create and drive a culture of ownership, accountability, & crisp execution to goals.
  • Guide the existing and any new processes necessary to hit business objectives while streamlining and/or eliminating non-critical work.
  • Ensure program technical leads, project managers, and engineering teams are engaging with one another to preclude surprises in the program.
  • Be able to travel as necessary to ensure team cohesion & program success.

Basic Qualifications:
  • and be willing and able to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering discipline or related field
  • A minimum of 10 years' working experience as a Program Manager, with at least 5 years' experience in a relevant industry
  • 10+ years' experience as a people manager
  • Proficiency in Jira, Slack, and MSOffice Suite include Teams, Project, and Visio
  • Mastery of program and project management best practices across various stakeholder groups and team members
  • Familiarity with software development practices and various methodologies (Scaled Agile Framework, waterfall, etc.)
  • Demonstrated natural bias to and proficiency in creating and maintaining all standard program management artifacts (integrated master schedules, status, burndown, risks, issues, decisions, program financials, change control, retrospectives, and RACIs). Can operate within standard program management framework. Exercises sound judgement and flexibility if business needs necessitate modifying that framework
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment
  • Experience leading transformative change

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified in project management
  • Certified in organizational change management
  • Previous experience in classified environments is a plus
  • Experience in Aerospace segment
  • MBA
  • Ability to analyze, prioritize, and resolve issues independently
  • Ability to partner effectively with highly technical team members and integrate that expertise into executable plans
  • Creative problem solver with sound judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to facilitate swift, informed decision making at all levels of the business and technical teams
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and follow-through
  • Excellent cross-functional and multi-level collaboration, relational, coaching, and management skills; high-energy attitude
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and executive communication skills

Location
  • Westminster, CO or Palo Alto, CA

The compensation range for this position in Colorado is $150,000- $250,000 annually, dependent on location, skills and experience. This position is also eligible for a bonus plan.
