Kforce's client, a growing Defense and Aerospace Company in the state of Arizona is looking for a few Senior Principal Optical Design Engineers and Principal Optical Design Engineers. We are looking for candidates nationwide willing to relocate to Arizona. Once again, the positions are in Arizona. A full relocation package is offered.Overview:Our client is currently searching for an Optical Design Engineers with optical design and analysis skills, interest and/or experience in infrared systems, optical tolerancing, optical fabrication, and testing. Chosen team members will work with multi-discipline teams supporting military programs through the application of optical design tools in the development and production phases of optical sensors. Assignments may include optical design, optical analysis such as stray light analysis, optical tolerancing, prototype development with optical component suppliers, optical testing, troubleshooting Electro-Optical systems, and providing solutions to a variety of Electro-Optical (EO) problems of moderate scope and complexity. The candidate should be capable of leading small teams and will work closely with Integrated Product Team Leads/Program Managers ensuring engineering requirements are defined, risks are managed, and schedules/budgets are met. The candidate will work independently in determining and meeting the technical, financial and schedule objectives of projects.As an Optical Engineer, decisions are data driven in nature and require preparing technical justification analysis reports as well as presenting to a variety of Engineering Review Boards.This position can be a Principal Systems Engineer or Senior Principal Systems Engineer based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, leadership, experience and responsibility requirements of the position.

Bachelor's degree in Optics, Physics, Systems Engineering or related discipline

A minimum of 7-12 years of related experience in Optics and Optical Design

Extensive knowledge and experience in infrared systems optical design, analysis, optical tolerancing, fabrication, and testing or similar application

Expert in CODE V and/or Zemax, and Excel and MATLAB

Applicants must be fully authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information

Desired skills, but not required:

Master's or PhD in Optical Engineering or related discipline

MS or PhD in Optics, Physics, or Systems Engineering preferred

Demonstrated experience in optical design and analysis

Industry related documentation experience

Business Acumen

Active DoD issued security clearance
