A global automotive company is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join the robotics team for a one-year research position. Through the creation of avatars and autonomous intelligent entities, the company’s robotics program is positioning robots to work alongside humans in collaborative, scalable networks aimed at extending human capabilities. Postdoctoral scientist will innovate in key areas of physical human-robot interaction (pHRI) including interaction modeling, sensing, and control, and collaborative and safe interaction planning.Responsibilities: • Ideate, develop and implement novel pHRI interaction control frameworks and algorithms, enabling safe, collaborative interaction between human and robot. Validate the results in simulation and on hardware.• Enable haptic communication between human and robot.• Collaborate with local and international researchers and engineers within the company.• Compile written and oral reports for executives within the company.• File patents on developed technologies.• Publish the research results at top-tier conferences and journals in robotics.Required Skillset: • Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, robotics, computer science, or a related field.• Expert knowledge in interaction control design for pHRI, robot kinematics, dynamics, and control.• Experience in implementation of control algorithms on real robotic systems for pHRI applications.• Experience in modeling, simulation and analysis of human motions.• Good programming skills in C or Python.• Good skills of software development using ROS.• Experience in machine learning areas including reinforcement learning.• Strong written and oral communication skills.Duration: 1 yearLocation: San Jose, CA (hybrid work schedule, relocation assistance is available.)Type: ContractSubmit resumes to
