- Driving design for manufacturability (DFM) and developing specifications for custom automation equipment
- Collaborating with small teams on in-house development of automation equipments, including 3D printer
- Developing manufacturing processes based on on-demand principles and identifying new technologies to improve manufacturing process
- Developing material plan to support testing
- Collaborating with internal and external equipment integrators on custom automation equipment design
- Attending design reviews and completing process failure mode and analysis (PFMEA)
- Developing equipment timing charts and determining automation level based on payback time (ROI)
- Working with our Supply Chain Manager to identify equipment vendors and visiting and evaluating equipment vendors
- Working closely with Production Team to develop workshop layouts and part flow strategy within factory
- Driving design of production workstations for ergonomics and efficiency
- Developing workshop requirements (work content, automated versus manual, buffering strategy, redundancy requirements, etc.)
- Identifying utilities needed and utility distribution strategy (PDPs, compressed air, process water, etc.)
- Identifying critical process requirements, process data, quality requirements and inspection method/requirement
- Developing testing plans for equipment acceptance testing
- Providing testing strategy including duration, target results, and quality inspection plan
- Providing a list of testing to be conducted to validate equipment and process
- Overseeing equipment installation and coordinate with building and utilities team while validating and characterizing new equipment and fixtures for production implementation
- BS/MS Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent work experience
- Background with multiple new equipment installations as well large manufacturing lines implementation
- Helpful if you've worked with multiple new product startups
- Developing new manufacturing processes in cutting-edge industries including 3D printing and electric automotive industry
- As a lead manufacturing engineer or project manager on automated manufacturing lines
- Transitioning products from low volume prototypes to large-scale production
- MES and database system architecture and data tracking
- Developing layouts in CAD
- Tolerance stack up
- Understanding of manufacturing equipment safety systems (Safety PLCs, safety category requirements, robot safety, safety guarding, light curtains, LOTO, etc.)
- Designing mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling in CAD (SolidWorks or Fusion 360)
