- Work with the Deployment Architect, Team Leaders and Software Engineers to develop hosting infrastructure and services for internet-facing software.
- Deploy software and related updates for production, testing and development.
- Promptly resolve any hosting or deployment related issues in production services.
- Design, develop and modify automated deployment, monitoring, backup and recovery systems.
- Ensure the integrity and consistency of backup services.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation on services, including disaster recovery.
- Periodically test disaster recovery processes.
- Develop and run load and automated testing of online services.
- In conjunction with the Deployment Architect, manage accounts and billing for hosting and related services.
- Provide training and support to developers of online services.
- Assist with software and tools development, including prototyping new approaches.
- Assist the Security Engineer with security auditing and reviews of our software.
- Develop automated build systems for internet-facing services.
- Create and maintain private clouds and locally hosted environments to support software development and testing.
- Produce overview and workflow documents relating to online infrastructure.
- Provide assistance to the software testing and documentation/education teams as required.
- Other related tasks as required.
- Software is efficiently and promptly deployed online as needed.
- Internet Services consistently meet or exceed our service level objectives (SLO).
- A reliable backup process ensures customer data is never lost
- A tertiary qualification in Computer Science or related field of study.
- Significant programming experience, including Java
- Experience in deploying professional products to cloud-based infrastructure (AWS)
- Proven ability to take due care with critical systems.
- Experience in developing server or multi-user applications is desirable.
- Ability to take product requirements and design and implement a suitable product.
- Appreciation of good user interface design.
- Ability to design a product that is robust and maintainable.
- Ability to work well in a group, sharing ideas and problem solving.
- Understanding of issues of team software development.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills such as time management and prioritizing.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
