Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Director of Data Management to join our Business Technology Solutions team. This leader will shape and implement the strategic vision for improving availability, quality, governance, security, and transparency of data across the organization into our enterprise platform. You will be responsible for creating a data driven culture across the enterprise and partnering with multiple business teams to enable their business intelligence and strategic data needs. In this role, you will lead a global team of data and BI analysts, data engineers, architects, and product delivery professionals towards maturing our data and analytics capabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Leads planning and strategy development for multiple areas of responsibility and is a key participant in strategic planning for the IT Operations function
  • Builds relationships as a trusted business partner with key business executives and serves as a focal point for delivery of IT services for data and analytics
  • Collaborates with other data/reporting groups across the divisions to improve and standardize consumption of data and analytics
  • Maintains and continuously builds an in-depth understanding of current business and technological trends for data management and translates into meaningful action to mature service offerings
  • Ensures security best practices for data engineering and IT general controls are embedded in application development practices and ingrained in team culture
  • Frequently interfaces with leadership inside and outside the company to make operational and project-related decisions, to resolve critical issues, to gather industry and competitive information and to foster a productive professional network
  • Provides operational and project direction to department managers and monitors performance against agreed upon objectives
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with critical vendors, leveraging vendor product roadmaps to identify new capabilities that align with the data management strategy
  • Reviews and approves statement of work (SOWs), request for proposals (RFPs), licensing agreements and software renewals and has significant responsibility managing key vendors and working with procurement to support negotiations
  • Makes hiring and other employment decisions for senior level staff and managers; provides on-going performance feedback to team and input to hiring decisions in other departments
  • Develops and administers area budget with input from working group managers

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required; Management Information Systems, Data Management, Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, or an MBA degree is a plus
  • 5+ years of technical experience in data engineering and BI analytics as a senior contributor
  • 8+ years of management experience leading global, product delivery teams in the data management field, including 3 to 5 years of director-level experience
  • Adept at collaboration techniques and situational awareness, knowing when/how to vary approach
  • Skillful in active listening practices that foster trust at all levels in the organization
  • Ability to deliver informative and persuasive presentations
  • Strong command of agile delivery principles/practices and product management concepts
  • Successful track record designing, developing, and executing critical complex projects in more than one area of functional expertise
  • Cloud first experience; Running applications on cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) and leveraging 3rd party SaaS solutions
  • Experience implementing data governance, master data management, data quality, and data retention programs at an enterprise level
  • Experience working in large, regulated industries and creating enterprise data security policies/procedures
  • Experience working with the following:
    • Enterprise/corporate data models (Data Vault is a plus)
    • ETL tools and methodologies (Informatica, Talend, etc.)
    • Advanced BI/Visualization tools (Tableau, Qlik, Power BI, etc.)
    • Relational databases, data warehousing, data lake and other data organization methods/models (Snowflake is a plus)
  • Exposure to ML and AI concepts is preferred
