Clothing speciality store in Santa Barbara, established in 1975, is seeking a part-time retail sales associate, offering a highly competitive hourly rate.

Seeking availability of sales associate for specific hours listed below, with some flexibility:

Mondays 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm

Tuesdays 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

Wednesdays 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

Sundays 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm

This is for availability purposes only and does not necessarily mean a guarantee of these hours every week. Covering for vacations/time off of other employees and owners, may be required.

As a Retail Sales Associate, you will be an integral part of providing a highly valued service to our community and beyond. Sales Associates provide outstanding customer service, demonstrate superior product knowledge to customers, while creating a shopping experience that will make the customer feel welcome and comfortable. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

Determine customer needs by listening carefully to the customer, informing the customer of available options for their consideration, without any pressure or expectations.

Demonstrate knowledge of store products and services to build sales and minimize returns.

Maintain a professional attitude with sincerity and enthusiasm reflecting our commitment to our customer.

Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.

Ability to follow directions from peers and management/owners.

Ability to take initiative, working independently, problem solve.

Ability to multitask, when needed, assisting more than one customer at a time, when needed.

Measure/pin/mark clothing for alterations, when needed, requiring the ability to kneel on provided knee pad to pin/mark hem of pants for alterations.

Customer Experience:

Focusing on the customer by giving a warm and friendly greeting, maintaining eye contact and offering help locating items, when needed.

Ability to deliver the highest level of service to each and every customer.

Ensures customer expectations are exceeded at each visit.

Create a positive, energetic environment focused on the customer experience.

Demonstrate compassion and care in all interactions.

Offer customers the opportunity to participate in our email notification services regarding special events and unadvertised promotions.

Education /Experience:

No specific educational accomplishment is required.

Previous retail experience preferred, but not required.

Training in all areas specific to company procedures, is provided.

Communication Skills:

Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to maintain eye contact with customers, peers, and management/owners.

Ability to effectively communicate with customers, peers, and management/owners.

Perform opening and closing store procedures, when needed.

Able to communicate on the telephone with proper etiquette.

Ability to write sales receipts, legibly.

Ability to follow instructions.

Mathematical Skills:

Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Able to use a calculator.

Must be able to make change using American Monetary units.

Accurately perform cashier duties - handling cash, checks and credit card transactions with precision while following company policies and procedures.

Other Skills:

Must enjoy meeting and interacting with customers.

Maintain the sales floor by restocking shelves, checking in merchandise, completing inventories, as directed by the management/owner.

Maintain the merchandise and other areas of the store in an organized manner.

Provide light housekeeping, as needed.

Work Hours:

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, and weekends, and busy events such as the day after Thanksgiving, the day after Christmas, special sales events, based on store/company needs.

Potential future opportunity of additional hours, responsibilities and increased wage.

Work Environment:

Retail store within an outdoor mall, centrally located in Santa Barbara.

Overall store hours Monday-Friday 10 to 6, Saturday 10 to 5, Sunday 12 to 5. Holiday hours may vary.

Pace varies between slow and fast, depending on the number of customers in store at one time, or workload.

Break times vary.

No high pressure or commission sales.

Relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

Business casual attire required. No shorts, torn jeans, hats, or flip-flops.
