Affinity Biosensors is seeking a full-time applications scientist to develop new diagnostic tests for its LifeScale antimicrobial susceptibility testing platform. The tests will measure microbe growth and response to antibiotics, and will eventually be used as clinical diagnostics for improving patient outcomes and limiting the spread of antibiotic resistance.
The ideal candidate has a Ph.D. or MSc. and combines an aptitude for analytical instrumentation, experience developing applications, and a background in life sciences including microbiology. This is a unique position for a self-motivated individual to perform cutting-edge research in a dynamic, growing company.
Duties include:
Designing novel tests for analytical instrumentation
Performing antimicrobial susceptibility tests and microbiological research in the laboratory
Documenting results of microbiological analyses
Required Skills:
Experience in developing applications for analytical instrumentation
Working knowledge of, and experience operating, lab equipment
General proficiency in high-level computer programming
Critical thinking skills for advanced problem-solving
Project management skills and ability to perform complex, high-level R&D a self-directed manner
Excellent interpersonal communication and clear, concise writing abilities
