Head of Executive Communications, Unit 42

Job Description

You will run executive communications for the Palo Alto Networks Unit 42 security consulting group, developing and executing strategies that will expand the group’s reputation and visibility.

As a member of the Corporate Communications team, you will support the Unit 42 senior vice president/leadership team on strategic communications that target customers/prospects, journalists, industry analysts, policymakers and internal audiences.

You’ll roll up your sleeves, dive in and help Unit 42 explain the work its researchers and consultants are doing to help enterprises prepare for and respond to their biggest security challenges - from ransomware and to cloud breaches and nation-state threats.

• Create communications tailored to a variety of external and internal audiences. Content will range from talking points, speeches and videos to contributed articles and presentation decks. You will ensure that all content is on-brand, consistent in style, quality and voice.

• You might simultaneously be developing a keynote speech for a major conference, a white paper on cybersecurity challenges facing the retail industry, briefing materials for client meetings and presentations for a quarterly business review.

• You vet incoming media and speaking requests for Unit 42 leaders, then provide communications support on those engagements.

• You’re a key member of the Unit 42 PR team, helping set and execute the business group’s communications strategy. You’ll serve as a liaison between Unit 42 leadership and the Communications team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in cybersecurity communications and marketing, including strong experience in executive communications as well as professional services and consulting.

• You know cybersecurity well enough that you can comb through threat intelligence reports, incident response data and commentary to identify great anecdotes that will bring executive communications to life. You’re a phenomenal writer and storyteller who is adept at translating complex technical talk into language that the rest of us can understand.

• A record of success in developing compelling thought leadership content, speeches, presentations. You should be comfortable creating presentation decks using Google Slides.

• You’re curious, creative, flexible and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. You thrive when working under tight deadlines with rapidly evolving situations. You’re willing to travel as needed.

• You’re adept at developing strategic communications plans, then effectively partnering across teams in a matrixed organization. You have experience managing complex cross-functional activities.
