Our client has a new opportunity for a Level 4 Technician to join their team onsite in the Santa Clara, CA area. This Technician will provide support to system HW / SW upgrades, system repair, KVM and PDU install and debug in the lab environment. The role will also help with HW / SW upkeep to include assistance with client compliance and procedural enhancements, system assembly, and system image creation for non-standard desktop, laptop and KVM hardware located in the datacenter / lab used in the Lab Compute virtual environment. This OS includes Window and Linux / Unix. Additional duties may include Acronis setup, DataGrove setup and other system maintenance as requested. This Technician s support will be provided as dedicated models with 40hrs per week during standard business hours.Scope of Activity and Responsibilities:
- Physical lab support
- Install updates to firmware or system drivers
- Maintaining servers and KVM s to ensure connectivity
- Setting up multiple clients that connect to one server in temporary lab projects
- Custom OS or software support needed in the lab environment
- Ability to understand LNSP under EC written guidelines and process
- Complete intake process request (i.e. ticket)
- Working knowledge of Linux is a plus
- Complete required training (hazardous materials, data center safety, etc.)
- LTO5 Tape library swap and rotation schedule
- General understanding of Windows Server OS's (i.e. 2008R2, 2012R2, 2016, 2019)
- General understanding of client Blade servers and enclosure configurations
- General understanding configuring client VC Flex Cards (Virtual Connect)
- Set up initial meeting with lab customers to collect customer requirements
- May also be involved in assisting with physical install documentation
- Issues or problems are escalated to site Field Engineer (FE)
- Will provide training to Level 3 contractors as needed
- Virtualization support
- Remote installation and / or Upgrading of Hypervisor software on client Blade series hardware
- Integrating Hypervisor servers into existing Virtualization Environments
- General VM access, configuration, and troubleshooting
- Moving and provisioning of VM's or Image templates within the Virtualization Environments
- Generic Virtualization troubleshooting of hypervisor and web interfaces
- Generic Virtualization storage troubleshooting
- General understanding of Virtualization concepts and implementation (i.e. setup, install, configure, troubleshoot)
- General understanding of Network Management (i.e. interconnectivity, integration, add / edit / remove requests, firewall settings)
- General understanding of remote connectivity and management
- Working knowledge of Windows OS's
- Intermediate knowledge of installing and providing networking support for some Linux VM's (basic Linux VM support)
- Linux
- Knowledge of CIFS shares for Windows and NFS exports for Linux
- Understand where shares are mounted during bootup or through static mount / automount
- Linux shell scripting knowledge or understanding (could learn if experience in Powershell)
- Network / Firewall
- Understand how group membership access and firewall rules are applied to allow / block access
- Scripting
- Understanding of scripting with Powershell (intermediate a plus)
- Client networking connections
- Intermediate understanding of network setup, mostly for Windows OS platforms
- Familiarity with CentOS / Redhat / SLES11, SLES12 or other Linux platform ex. / etc. / sysconfig. and files where network settings are maintained - essentially the same network components that are maintained in Windows adaptor console but can be manually set within these files
- Network files systems
- Knowledge of CIFS shares for Windows and NFS exports for LINUX, where they are mounted during bootup or through static mount / automount (LINUX)
- Microsoft Windows XP, 7 and 10
- Experience providing desktop support to Windows Desktops
- Troubleshoot driver compatibility issues for certain third-party tools (specially winXP)
- Familiarity with Registry and understanding regedit functions
- Deploy images using DeployCommander or similar products (Ghost)
- Understanding Active Directory as it pertains to domain objects (computers)
- Troubleshoot DNS issues; good understanding of DNS
- Microsoft Windows Server 2008R2, 2012R2, 2016, 2019
- Understanding of Active Directory as it pertains to objects (users, computers, groups)
- Understanding of Event Log; being able to troubleshoot errors
- Ability to Deploy OS via Remote Console Mgmt. using .ISO or PXE Boot
- Understanding of Clusters (load balancing)
- Understanding of PowerShell in efforts to automate certain functions
- Understanding of Windows File Shares
- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows Server Manager
- Understanding of DNS and being able to assign DHCP / static IP's upon client request / new server builds
- Familiarity with EOL's and following guidelines as needed
- Hardware support
- Familiarity with racking and landing new servers and deploying OS
- Familiarity with deploying new desktops and deploying OS
- Troubleshooting network connectivity and understanding how to perform troubleshooting functions
- Server as liaison between customers and networking team
- Understanding of VLANS
