Palo Alto Network's Next-Gen Firewall as a Platform team is looking for a seasoned and accomplished cloud security software senior manager with experience in Public Cloud Security as a Service offering to fill a technical leadership position. You will be part of a world-class software engineering team that works on various ground-breaking cloud security service offerings. As Senior Software Manager, you will lead the development team to deliver security as a service in the public cloud by providing highly scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant infrastructure. You will be expected to lead and participate in all phases of the product development cycle, from definition, design, through implementation, test, and field deployment. This includes driving functional specifications, assessing task requirements and scheduling, and collaborating with cross-functional teams and external vendors.

Your Impact

  • Drive a results-oriented culture with a strong focus on execution, quality, and speed

  • Lead cross-functionally with Product Management, SRE, Software, and Quality Engineering teams to deliver new cloud network security as a service offerings to the market in a timely fashion with excellent quality

  • Contribute to the design, architecture, process, and development discussions

  • Manage a software engineering team that builds, designs, implements, and maintains cloud network security service services

  • Develop a strong culture of diversity, intellectual curiosity, problem-solving, and openness

  • Work closely with SRE and customer support teams to improve end-customer outcomes

  • Be a strong mentor and coach to the team

  • Foster innovation in the organization

  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Hiring, developing, and mentoring software developers, and managing investments that accelerate scaling for new service offerings

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, other engineering/technical degree

  • 5+ years of experience in highly technical roles in development or enterprise services, at large organizations or innovative startups.

  • At least 3+ years of experience managing software engineering teams.

  • Experience with the agile process and leading software development teams involved with Cloud Security service, Orchestration, Config Management, Monitoring, logging, etc

  • Experience with building and delivering configuration management workflows at scale

  • Experience with cloud-based deployments (AWS/Azure/GCP experience preferred)

  • Good understanding of public cloud service design considerations and limitations in the areas of virtualization, global infrastructure, distributed systems, load balancing, networking, database, serverless, and security.

  • Experience with Agile methodologies is a plus, a willingness to adopt them is required.

  • Hands-on programming experience in one of the following: Python, Golang and Terraform.

  • Experience with full-stack development (Rest APIs, Databases, Serverless computing, etc) of distributed cloud applications.

  • Strong domain expertise in building and delivering large-scale Cloud Security service offerings.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
