Payroll Manager (Buellton)

We are currently hiring for a Payroll Manager position in the Buellton area. This position is full-time and direct hire. The payrate for this position is $75,000 annually. If you are qualified and interested apply ASAP

Duties & Responsibilities

Explains and interprets complex payroll and payroll tax information to employees at all levels of the organization

Uses analytical skills to identify and address potential issues

Assists in specialized processing and assigned projects, requiring more detailed knowledge of payroll procedures

Reviews audit reports for processing errors and request corrections as necessary

Researches employee questions and provides resolution, as dictated by company policy

Organizes and maintains records to enable special processing that reduces the occurrences of incorrect payroll payments

Assists in special projects and testing on new processing systems

Maintains payroll staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.

Maintains payroll staff job results by counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.

Communicates all discrepancies to Financial Controller

Communicates and provide management reports as required by the CFO

Process payroll bi-weekly for all company entities

Ensure payroll information is being maintained and accurately updated by collecting, and calculating figures based on data provided.

Obtain supervisory approval of all-time sheets

Sends daily reports to supervisor to approve time sheets

Process bonuses

Ensure payroll file is accurate and complies with appropriate FLSA calculations for regular, holiday, over-time, and paid time off.

Review and understand all company policies with respects to those polices that may govern the assigned payroll responsibilities

Responsible for updating the following payroll records; changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, job title, department transfers etc.

Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages

Determines payroll liabilities by calculating employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer's social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments

Identifies and resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information

Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes

Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential

Prepares employment verification letters as requested

Process adjustments to quarter and year-end payroll tax filings

Process accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary (W-2)

Calculate and process commissions

Process garnishments

May work on other projects as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

BS/BA in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources or related field; professional certification (e.g. CPP, CPM) is a plus

5+ Proven experience as a payroll manager or similar role

Personnel management

Familiarity with accounting principles relating to funds disbursements, payroll tax statutory requirements and payment regulations

Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision

Knowledge of payroll procedures and related laws

Excellent understanding of multi-location payroll and taxes

Familiarity with payroll software/ QuickBooks and MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)

A keen eye for detail

Outstanding communication skills (written and Verbal)

Organizational and leadership skills

BSc/BA in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources or related field; professional certification (e.g. CPP, CPM) is a plus

Solid analytical, mathematical, and research skills

Great interpersonal skills

Able to multitask efficiently and effectively

Ability to work as a team player in a high stress environment

Desired:

7+ years of working in a high-volume payroll department

Proven experience as a payroll manager or similar role
