We are currently hiring for a Drafter IV position in the Vandenberg AFB area. This position is full-time, temporary, and expected to last 90 days. The payrate for this position is $28.07 an hour. If you are interested and qualified please apply ASAP!
Duties and Responsibilities
Works closely with design originator, preparing drawings or computer models of unusual, complex, or original designs that require a high degree of precision, and performs unusually difficult assignments requiring considerable initiative, resourcefulness, and drafting expertise
Exercises independent judgment in selecting and interpreting data based on knowledge of design intent
Perform administrative duties and testing in AutoCAD and CREO elements.
Prepare complete set of complex drawings of systems and test equipment from layouts or sketches several cross-sectional and subassembly drawings may be required. Describes dimensions, tolerances, fits, fabrication techniques, and standard parts from information supplied by the design originator and/or from technical handbooks and manuals.
Prepare final floor or building layouts, rack elevations, and assemblies/sub-assemblies from precedents, drafting standards, and established practices in 2D or 3D formats as required.
Train/mentor lower grade Drafters.
Coordinate and support Engineering and Project Management in Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment
Analyze Engineering redlines for completeness and ability to execute for lower grade level drafters
Maintain strict version control through analysis and de-confliction of multiple redlines to same data.
Create and modifies parts, part structures and documents in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tool.
Generate Engineering Change Notices, implementation plans, uploads/downloads data from PLM tool, and maintain ECN status in PLM tool
Creates Technical Data Packages (TDPs) in PLM tool
Check and verify drawings for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to drafting standards as required by contract
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
Proficiency with AutoCAD and standard MS Office (Word, Excel etc) products
Proficiency with CREO Elements or other solid modeling software, preferred
Proficiency with PLM tools such as Windchill or equivalent
Professional knowledge of materials, components, assemblies, computer and peripheral hardware designs/parts
Professional knowledge of conventional electronic, electromechanical, mechanical, or architectural drafting techniques
Knowledge of engineering mathematics and ability to make arithmetic computations using standard formulas
Ability to effectively work in a team environment; and perform work and resolve problems with limited supervision
Strong organizational skills and specific emphasis on attention to detail. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. Some climbing, extended standing, and/or travel to remote sites such as Pillar Point Air Force Station
AA degree or completion of a technical trade school in CAD, drafting or related field, or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge and skills preferred
Three to five years of experience in a CAD Operator role or a similar role
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship or U.S. Naturalization
The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project requirements
Valid U.S. Drivers License required
