Job Description:
This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone in the Santa Maria area looking for work as a Test Technician. This position is Full Time and temp to hire, with the hours from 7 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday. The pay rate for this position will be decided based upon your experience. Job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Read test procedures, work orders, test manuals, performance specifications, wiring diagrams, and schematics to determine testing procedure and equipment to be used
Test functional performance of systems, subassemblies, and parts under specified environmental conditions such as temperature change, vibration, pressure, and humidity
Connect units to be tested to test equipment such as digital multi-meter, hi-pot tester, signal generator, frequency meter, or spectrum analyzer
Read dials or digital display that indicate electronic characteristics such as voltage, frequency, distortion, inductance, resistance, and capacitance
Compare results with specifications and record test data or plot test results on graphs
Analyze test results on defective units to determine the cause of failure
Record minor defects on tag attached to unit and return unit to production department for repair
Generate non-conformance reports for major defects
Confer with engineers, technicians, production personnel, and others regarding testing procedures and results and to resolve problems
Devise test equipment setup to evaluate performance and operation of nonstandard or customer returned units
Other duties as applied
Skills and Qualifications:
Associate's Degree or equivalent from a 2 year college or technical school or 6 months to 1 year of related experience and/or training (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Ability to properly communicate through both oral and written communication
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
Strong problem solving ability
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Strong math skills (calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume)
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
