Could you be a role model for youth ages 12-18? Have you overcome obstacles in your personal life or do you have experience and knowledge with situations such as: Gangs, family violence, alcohol and drug abuse, incarceration or deportation within the family, homelessness, suicide ideation and self-harming behavior?
This is normally an on-campus position, but now is conducted via telehealth (Zoom) until school goes back into session on site. This is a PAID position that serves as a counselor/mentor with teens at a Junior High School in Santa Maria. The Youth Service Specialist (YSS) would teach an life skills class to small groups of students (up to 12), focusing on goals to improve self-esteem, decision making, healthy coping, and communication skills. The YSS would provide individual support services such as short-term counseling, case management, conflict mediation, and crisis intervention.
This position is full-time through June 6th, with the opportunity to renew the contract for the 2021-2022 school year for the right candidate. Required: BA Degree and experience working with adolescents. Preferred: AMFT, LMFT, ASW, LCSW, or in process/currently in school for counseling or social work, AOD Counselor Certification. Bilingual- English/Spanish a plus.
Pay: $22-24/hour rate depends on experience and education
