A nationally recognized financial services company is looking for a Lead Java Architect to join the team in Santa Monica, CA. The current managers are in the process of building out a new lead engineering team, which will be responsible for creating the architecture spanning across majority of the organization. Additionally, they are going through a modernization, so this architect will be heavily involved in moving applications from the current environment to AWS. Since these modernization efforts will be a main focus for this role, architects who have worked on similar projects is highly preferred. Additionally, having a strong development background in Java, NoSQL databases, AWS, Microservices, and Kafka. Any mentor/leadership experience is a plus. - 5+ years of architecture experience
- Experience modernizing applications - knowledge of cloud migration journey, challenges that arise, etc.
- Strong development background in Java
- NoSQL databases - Cassandra, MongoDB, DynamoDB
- Experience with Cloud technologies - AWS preferred
- Microservices, Kafka
- Familiarity with front-end technologies - JavaScript, jQuery, Angular, React, Vue
- 90% Architecture / Design responsibilities
- 10% Coding / Development responsibilities
- Competitive Pay: Up to $75/hour, DOE
- Contract Duration: 6-12 Months, with option to convert
