The County of Sonoma Information Systems Department (ISD) is seeking talented Network Engineers to join our Network Services Team.

The Sonoma County Information Systems Department (ISD) provides a wide array of IT Services to 29 departments and agencies, and almost 4,000 employees. The Network Services Team is responsible for interconnecting thousands of devices throughout the County of Sonoma and Public Safety Networks. As a member of the Network Services Team, you will provide support for the countywide enterprise network with a focus on supporting VoIP or Network Security services. Ideal candidates for these positions will possess some of the following:
  • 3+ years of demonstrated ability supporting complex voice, video, and data converged networks
  • 3+ years of demonstrated ability supporting network security services for an enterprise environment
  • Experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager or related management tools
  • Experience with Cisco IP telecommunications hardware such as analog voice gateways and SIP gateways
  • Knowledge of VoIP protocols and technologies
  • Experience with security focused technologies, including firewalls, IPS, VPN, SIEM and related tools
  • An understanding of enterprise architectures, routing, and transport protocols
  • Experience with Cisco IOS and NX-OS based switches and routers
  • Experience in TCP/IP, QoS, DHCP, and DNS
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills/good interpersonal skills
  • Strong project management skills, including organization and time management skills

Following current Public Health Orders and department needs, ISD positions may initially work both remote as well as on-site, transitioning to full-time on-site or hybrid remote/on-site when required and allowed.

Please Note: These positions will be required to have access to Sheriff's Office or Probation Department facilities or view data or work with information systems for these departments. This requires that a more extensive "Security Clearance" be performed, after hire, by the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office. Successful completion of the probationary period will be contingent upon passing the security clearance, which includes a Live Scan fingerprint based check of California Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) criminal records.
