About this Role

This position plays a key role in developing and maintaining our investment technology base and delivering new platform functionalities. You'll be responsible for maintaining, extending, and developing our data processes, from ingestion, ETL, to presentation. You will be responsible for design, implementation, and maintenance of all aspects of our data infrastructure with a focus on data integrity and security.

This position is roughly 25% database administration, 50% data process development, and 25% other tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Work with the Systems Architect and other stakeholders to create high performance, extensible data models/database structures to facilitate project requirements and new requests for data - this includes but is not limited to:

Design and implement data ingestion processes: selecting data vendors, implementing data ingestion and ETL processes
Data infrastructure development: data flow design, data warehouses and databases, data archiving strategy
Data infrastructure maintenance: monitoring, tuning, troubleshooting, maintenance, backup
Data lifecycle and security processes
Maintaining and refactoring legacy schemas
Data presentation through various systems: business applications, business intelligence platforms, client reporting applications, research applications
Assisting Application Developers with the creation of queries and database functions, provide guidance on performance and optimization
Identifying and applying proactive solutions and corrective measures to minimize downtime
Creating and maintaining scripts to automate common operations and maintenance tasks
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

7+ years of database development experience supporting application development teams/projects
Expert SQL writing and query optimization skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent problem solving skills, attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Ability to communicate and follow up effectively and professionally with other business departments
Related experience in the financial or investment sector highly desirable
Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL VERY highly preferred
Strong understanding of, or experience with, DBA tasks supporting relational databases in an enterprise environment, including PostgreSQL 9.6 or higher
Strong understanding of data modelling and enterprise database concepts
Strong experience with ETL job development and maintenance preferred
Python (or other programming languages) development experience desirable
AWS environment experience desirable
