These patients usually come directly from a Short Term Acute Care Hospital (STCH) and are in need of vent weaning and acute rehabilitation services for a longer period of time to recover and return to their optimal level of health. The average length of stay (ALOS) of these patients is a range of 25-35 days which is a longer than average stay at a Short Term Acute Care Hospital. Care for these types of patients is provided by RNs, Respiratory Therapists, Wound Care Nurses, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech Therapists. Also a collaborative team of specialty physicians, psychologists, dieticians, and social workers will focus on an individualized goal for each patient to recover and reach their independence and optimum level of health.is a missing piece in the continuum of care within the health care system.Job Summary:The Staffing Coordinator works with Directors, Managers, and Nursing Supervisors to ensure appropriate staffing of the hospital departments. The coordinator will look ahead to fill vacant shifts with internal staff and external supplemental staffing agencies. Input accurate census, acuity and staffing data to generate daily reports, and performs clerical, reception and general office duties. Demonstrates a high level of customer focus when working with Directors, Clinical Supervisors, Nurse Managers and staff. Creates a culture of sensitivity to nurses needs while filling the patient care bases.Duties and Responsibilities:Actively participates in educational activities/self-development to enhance professional growth. Acts as Receptionist for the Staffing Office, receiving telephone calls, visitors and registry staff.

At the end of each shift, enters staffing updates and changes to include sick calls, no-shows and registry use. Demonstrates competency in computer knowledge of systems required to perform duties.

Determines staffing needs in collaboration with Directors, Managers, and Nursing Supervisors. Coordinates daily staffing needs by making reassignments, calling replacement personnel, and canceling personnel according to established procedures. Receives and appropriately documents sick calls or no shows.

Enters scheduling changes as communicated by the Directors and Nurse Managers for trades, leaves of absence and days off.

Files a variety of documents, including memorandums, reports, documentation and personnel transaction forms. Inputs accurate census, acuity and staffing data, anticipating changing needs.

Prepares routine reports as requested.

Updates and maintains current telephone numbers for all Nursing staff for use by Management and Staffing Office personnel.

Ensures registry evaluations are completed, signed by Management and kept on file.

Preforms additional duties as assigned.
