YOUTH BASKETBALL COACH — WINTER 2026 (TEMPORARY / SEASONAL)

OVERVIEW
The Jewish Community Center of San Francisco is seeking enthusiastic and experienced basketball coaches for our youth program this winter. Applicants should have basketball coaching experience and/or strong basketball knowledge and experience working with children ages 5–12 years. The JCCSF youth sports philosophy, “Redefine the Score,” focuses on developing both sport-specific and life skills in a positive, fun atmosphere.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Create team goals aligned with JCCSF youth sports values.
Plan and lead practices and games emphasizing skill development and positive reinforcement.
Be consistently present for weekday practices and weekend games.
Coach during game days: set lineups, make substitutions, and apply age-appropriate strategies.
Learn and follow league rules and expectations.
Communicate effectively with players, parents, other coaches, and supervisors.
Perform other duties as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience working with children ages 5–12.
Knowledge of basketball fundamentals; prior youth coaching experience preferred.
Familiarity with early childhood development is a plus.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Reliable transportation to program locations.
Availability for practices, games, trainings, and meetings throughout the season.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Indoor gym setting. Practices and games are held Monday–Sunday, typically between 2:30 PM and 7:30 PM.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand for long periods.
Lift up to 25 lbs.
Frequent movement throughout the gym.
STATUS & HOURS
Temporary / seasonal, non-exempt position.
2–12 hours per week.
SEASON SCHEDULE
January 2026 – March 2026. Must be available for the entire season and for at least one or two weekday afternoons/evenings plus weekends.
