Stafford House International is a group of English language schools that offer courses for General, Academic, and Professional Purposes. Our mission is to educate, inspire, and help our students enjoy our city, empowering them with confidence to realize their personal potential.

The Student Advisor / Housing and Admissions is a critical role on our Student Services team at Stafford House San Francisco. You will work closely with our full team to ensure that each one of our adult international students has a life changing experience studying abroad at Stafford House San Francisco. Our Student Advisors are the friendly, smiling, helpful faces of Stafford House and the first impression students have with the school, and you will help ensure students have an amazing time outside the classroom. Our team is small, and we all pitch in and do anything that needs to be done!

We wear a lot of hats, but you will be primarily responsible for the following areas:

front desk (reception) management (this role is based at our front desk)

student housing

leading activities

admissions (working with prospective students and local agents)

student satisfaction

orientations, graduation, and keeping the school a fun place to be

Your role has a huge impact on the student experience and the school. You have a primary role in getting students into our school and helping them have a safe and happy place to live. You will contribute to and maintain a culture of outstanding customer service and exhibit excellent communication and inter-personal skills; projecting a professional and courteous manner at all times when representing the school.

The Student Advisor role will develop and change as our programs and services evolve.

Key responsibilities

Housing

Coordinate all student homestay and residence club accommodations, to ensure consistent, high quality cultural exchange experiences for our students

Be the go to for students who have questions, issues, or problems with their accommodations (host families or residence clubs) by ensuring cultural understanding and realistic expectations. Act as a liaison and support person when needed between students and housing providers. Solve the problems!

Respond with urgency to availability requests from prospective students and agents

Meet the budgeted occupancy rate for rooms that we manage, and project any changes needed to ensure our expected housing revenue is met.

Match students to appropriate homestays and residence club rooms, provide confirmation documents, with high attention to detail

Recruit and train host families and new residence club options.

Screen, orient, and maintain host family relationships through initial and annual home visits and regular phone and email communication.

Coordinate homestay invoicing and family payments

Recruit and visit local residence clubs, and maintain relationships with those housing providers.

Continuously look for new sources of housing, to ensure we are providing the best options that San Francisco has to give

Admissions

Act as the primary San Francisco based enrollment and admissions support for prospective direct students. This includes introducing our school and pricing, and helping students to choose Stafford House as a great place to study. You will be the primary staff member working with walk-in prospective students, answering prospective student phone calls, and taking online/web leads through the sales and enrollment process

Use Hubspot (our CRM sales software) to actively and regularly communicate with our prospective students, including initial personal contact, providing price quotes, following up, tracking a students lead status.

Process new applications, collect required student documents, invoice and track payments, and generate acceptance documents for incoming registrations.

Achieve quarterly enrollment and revenue goals

Orientation & Graduation

Help lead and coordinate weekly new student orientations and intake processing.

Rotate leadership of our weekly graduation ceremony

Student Satisfaction and Student Support

Make the school a great place to be! Respond to student feedback, talk to students about their experiences, look for ways to improve our student experience.

Student counseling: Support students with their transition to San Francisco and all that entails

Activities:

Provide ideas and support our Student Services Manager in the creation of our activities calendar.

Lead students on at least one activity per week (we lead 5 activities a week! We do city tours, museum visits, networking events, game day, hikesĀ¦ you name it!)

Customer Service

Be the friendly, helpful face of the school! Be the main person who sits at the front desk (reception), helping students with a variety of requests.

Wear all the hats that need to be worn, and do it with a welcoming smile.

Ensure the delivery of an outstanding experience for students and partners

Answer all emails and telephone calls in a timely manner.

Collaborate with the other Student Services and Administrative Stafford House teams to ensure best customer experience for all participants.

Communicate effectively and maintain excellent rapport with agents. Build and maintain relationships with colleagues, agents, housing providers, and students.

Has very strong organizational skills and an ability to help organize others

Demonstrates strong administrative skills, including reporting, data entry and accounting

Has a B.A. in a related field.

Bonus points for:

Experience living or studying abroad.

Experience living with a host family, acting as a Resident Advisor, or working in hospitality

Second Language ability (extra bonus points for Portuguese, Mandarin, or Spanish).

Experience with conflict resolution.

Experience communicating with English learners.

TEFL certification, as there may be potential for teaching hours
