Lakeside Presbyterian Center for Children is a beloved neighborhood preschool of San Francisco. Since 1961, generations of native San Franciscans have attended and sent their children to Lakeside for their first years of school. Our school community is comprised of dedicated staff, involved parents and a caring church – all of whom work together to support our nurturing learning environments. The school offers preschool, preK, and transitional kindergarten classes, enrichment programs, and summer camps.

Lakeside is currently hiring a teacher assistant for the transitional kindergarten program. The transitional kindergarten program meets from 8:30am to 3:30pm, with the option of extended care before from 7:30am to 8:30am and afterwards from 3:30pm to 6:00pm.

Job Qualifications

1. Must possess a minimum of 12 units of early childhood education units with the intention of completing an additional 6 units within a year of hire.

2. Demonstrate, through previous experience, the potential for increasing skills (ie. taking early childhood education courses or attending conferences/workshops).

3. Must have a minimum of one year experience working in a child care center.

4. Possess or attain CPR/First Aid, Mandated Reporter, Pesticides and Sexual Harassment training within 90 days of being hired and maintain certification.

5. LiveScan fingerprint and TB clearance required.

6. Must be capable and willing to give continuous attention to the physical, emotional and intellectual needs of children in a loving and caring way.

7. Must be physically able to regularly stand, sit, walk, reach, twist, turn, kneel, bend, squat, stoop, run and climb in the performance of daily activities and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

8. Able to learn and use technology in the classroom.

Job Duties

1. Assist the Teachers in daily transitions, routines, and activities, and overall classroom/program management.

2. Perform tasks related to children’s needs in the classroom/program, as requested by the Teachers and Site Supervisors.

3. Be verbally responsive and courteous to parents, children and coworkers.

4. Be alert to the functioning of the entire classroom/program; be aware of the needs of children, and respond appropriately.

5. Listen and encourage language and allow children to resolve conflicts and learning problems whenever it is possible.

6. Contribute photos, anecdotes and other documentation to children’s portfolios on Seesaw as requested by the Teachers.

7. Attend all required trainings offered by the center.

8. Participate and know emergency procedures.

9. All employees are required to attend regularly scheduled staff meetings, and annual staff reviews and all professional development days.

10. Perform all other duties as needed.

Job Type: Full-time, 7:30am to 4:00pm

Salary: $16.07 /hour starting
