Major utilities subcontractor is looking for candidates who are interested in a 6-8 month fielding assignment in the High Sierras.
Candidates will receive Per Diem and MUST be open to putting in a substantial amount of overtime. Candidates also must have reliable transportation.
As a field technician, candidate will inspect utility poles to ensure accurate work. This is an outdoor position that requires hiking/driving between spans of utility poles to collect detailed technical information about electric utility and telecommunication facilities and equipment.
Essential Duties
Fielder will be able to identify most standard overhead and underground utility equipment.
Operate and maintain equipment that would include a tablet computer, GPS devices, digital camera, measuring tools and personal protective equipment.
Communicate feedback to employees
Able to understand units of measure
Ability to measure heights, distances, angles, and thicknesses of designated poles
Understand and read facility maps
QUALIFICATIONS:
Basic knowledge of telecommunications and/or electrical distribution systems is a PLUS but not required. This is an entry-level position.
Able to complete assigned responsibilities with little to no supervisor
Must be able to accurately assess data
Strong attention to detail
Willing to travel and work in various weather conditions
