We are a small but very busy workers' compensation law firm in San Francisco looking to hire a legal assistant/paralegal. The hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The starting wages are dependent on experience. We offer paid holidays, paid time off, health insurance and after one year of employment a retirement account.

Job Responsibilities:

- Answer the phone, answer client questions.

- Calendar appointments and hearings

- Maintain files, copy and scan documents.

- Prepare and file pleadings and petitions.

- Handle confidential information.

- Prepare business letters that are grammatical and professional

- Interview potential new clients

- Label scanned mail, distribute to attorneys, and take appropriate action on it

Mandatory Qualifications:

- Must have common sense.

- Must be punctual and responsible.

- Must be detail-oriented.

- Must be able to accurately and fluently read, write, speak, and understand English.

- Must be proficient in Outlook, MS Office, Word, and able to quickly learn how to use new software.

- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.

- Must have an interest in working with and helping injured workers.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree and/or Paralegal certificate.

- Experience as a legal assistant or paralegal at another law office preferably in workers' compensation.
