Summer Temporary Position

Position Summary:

Holy Names University Upward Bound (HNU UB) is currently hiring Resident Advisor (RA) for the summer component and welcome dynamic and compassionate applicants that understand and have backgrounds similar to that of our students. The RA's will model caring professionalism for our students.

During the Six-week Summer Component of Upward Bound the RA: assist in advising students, direct dormitory activities, manage students in the dorms while keeping them safe, supervise students when appropriate, occasionally support classroom activities, organize student interest groups, coordinate and participate in recreational activities, organize and assist in workshops for students, uphold UB Summer Program rules and HNU campus policies, help students with college and career information, and live in the residence halls for four weeks during the residential component of the program.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of college

Additional Qualifications

Passion for working with underrepresented youth and understands particular issues facing low-income and first-generation college bound students

-Creative and compassionate ways to engage students

-Has experience working with high school students

-Highly flexible, organized, and professional

-Knowledge and/or experience with TRIO programs a plus

About Our Program:

Holy Names University Upward Bound is an educational outreach program federally funded by the US Department of Education. Upward Bound is designed to serve high school students who are low income and of the first generation to matriculate to college. We provide advising and academic services throughout our students' four years in high school to prepare them to get into the college of their choice. During the summer, we provide an extensive program that includes a residential component in the college dorms, classes for enrichment, and workshops geared toward social entrepreneurship.
