Catholic Charities San Francisco operate two short term residential therapeutic programs (STRTPs) in San Francisco, one for adjudicated teen boys, another for adjudicated teen girls, ages 13-18. The Catholic Charities San Francisco Boys' and Girls' Home (SFBGH) are an alternative to incarceration and provide vulnerable youth a highly structured environment, staffed 24 hours a day, plus a host of mental health and re-habilitative services. The SFBGH Boys program serves pre and post adjudicated teen boys ages 13-18.

Residential Counselors at San Francisco Boys' and Girls' Home collectively develop and maintain a secure home-like environment in which youth within the juvenile justice system (probation) and who have suffered trauma can experience stable, healthy attachments and develop age appropriate social skills and life skills aimed at healing and stabilizing the child and their family for long term success after residential treatment, as a diversion to being incarcerated.

The Residential Counselor position is integral to maintaining a caring and structured environment for the boys. The Residential Counselor is a member of a collaborative team that supports and maintains a home like environment in which the boys, many of whom have experienced familial and/or environmental trauma, can feel safe and heard and develop more appropriate social skills. Residential Counselors operate as caregivers, supporting their daily activities, transporting them to school, participating in meetings as indicated, preparing meals, and overseeing chores and regulating behavior.Qualifications:

Must be at least 21 years of age Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver License Must attend mandatory training sessions (paid) within first 90 days of employment A Bachelor of Arts degree is preferred, especially in a Behavioral Science Experience with residential treatment, teaching, recreation, childcare, or other social service work also preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Maintain clear boundaries with the residents and between personal and professional life Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in cross-cultural situationsDisplay situation-appropriate emotional response Consistent in supporting agency policies, philosophy, and ethicsCompensation & Benefits:
