Job Title: Full-Time or Part-Time Maintenance Technician for 75-Unit Apartment Building

Location: South San Francisco, CA

Position Type: Full-Time (40 hours per week) or Part-Time

About Us:

We are a unique 75-unit apartment building located in a senior community in South San Francisco. Our residents are highly interactive, and we pride ourselves on providing a friendly, service-oriented environment. We are looking for a skilled and personable Maintenance Technician to join our team full-time or part-time and help maintain our property to the highest standards.

Job Description:

As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining the building and common areas, completing work orders, and assisting residents with various maintenance needs. We need someone who is a self-starter, can identify issues and take the initiative to address them, and has excellent people skills to interact positively with our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

Complete apartment work orders, including replacing lightbulbs, fixing clogged toilets, changing stove burners, and more.

Perform routine maintenance tasks such as replacing outside lights, changing HVAC filters and belts, and maintaining the patio area.

Assist contractors with installing hardwood floors, remodeling units, and performing other handyman tasks as needed.

Change timers for parking and building lights, maintain smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.

Rebuild window screens, perform touch-up painting, and other general maintenance tasks.

Responsible for shutting off water and draining the building for plumbing repairs if necessary.

Familiar with tankless water heaters and their maintenance.

Respond to after-hours emergencies and be available to return to the building if required.

When a resident moves out, responsible for cleaning, completing all repairs, and painting the unit for the next resident.

Change locks and mailbox keys when a resident moves out.

Visit Lowe’s/Home Depot for supplies as needed.

Proactively identify and address maintenance issues throughout the building.

Assist and interact with residents in a friendly, professional manner, providing assistance and support as needed.

Qualifications:

Substantial experience as a Handyperson or Maintenance Technician, preferably in a residential or apartment building setting.

Strong knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, HVAC systems, and general maintenance.

Experience and familiarity with tankless water heaters.

Ability to safely operate power tools and other equipment needed for repairs and maintenance.

Experience with remodeling units, including flooring installation and minor construction.

Must be a self-starter who can work independently, identify what needs to be done, and complete tasks efficiently.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; must be personable and service-oriented, with a genuine desire to help our residents.

Ability to climb ladders and work on roofs as needed.

Must be able to lift heavy items and perform physically demanding tasks as required.

Knowledge of senior living communities and the unique needs of older residents is a plus.

Must have their own truck and transportation.

Must live within one hour of South San Francisco.

Must speak English.
