Job Description
Brief Description
CNC Lathe Set-Up Machinist is responsible for producing work in the most efficient manner while meeting the drawing/planning specification/requirements. Works with minimum supervision.
Key Accountabilities
- Completes set-ups with minimal supervision/assistance.
- Responsible for all phases of part operation set-up to achieve first article acceptance.
- Perform and maintain accurate in-process quality inspection and records.
- Identify and recommend process improvements that reduce part quality variation.
- Continuously improve processes, procedures, and eliminate waste.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Maintains a culture of accountability.
- Ensure department machines are kept running per machine’s daily check scheduled.
- Ensure jobs are running per scheduled in work cell.
- May train lower level machinists.
Qualifications
Desirable Experience, Capabilities and Success Factors
- At least five (5) years experience operation set-up on CNC Lathe and Mill equipment.
- Multiple Turret and Multi-Axis’s experience, Y/ B Axis a plus.
- Skilled in the use of indicator, gage, dial bores, and plate inspection methods for first article and in-process inspection of precision machined parts.
- Ability to maintain close tolerances (within .0005”) of ID’s, hold .0005 profile, roundness.
- Knowledge of cutting tools feeds, speeds, and inserts tool life for aerospace machining.
- Ability to follow verbal instructions and interpret blue print and quality requirements.
- Ability to communicate with employees and management in a positive manner.
- Ability to lift a maximum of 25 lbs. (over 25 lbs with assistance).
- Ideal candidate will have experience with AS9100, 5S, Lean, and Six Sigma.
- Per ITAR regulations must be a US Person (US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card Holder).
