About the Program

Bell Cove was built in 2013 and specifically designed as a 5-bed, licensed Residential Treatment Home located in scenic Brookings, Oregon. Bell Cove is a Psychiatric Security Review Board (PSRB)-designated program serving individuals who have been found not guilty of a crime due to having a serious mental illness.

Position Details

Our team at Bell Cove has the availability to host a Qualified Mental Health Professional – Intern, specifically focusing on Social Work/Marriage & Family Therapy/Counseling. ColumbiaCare Services is interested in helping students obtain the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to further their educational goals, especially in the mental health field. The internship is related to an educational purpose and there is no guarantee or expectation that the activity will result in employment with the company. The education received by the Intern for the internship is for the express benefit of the Intern. The Intern does not replace or displace any ColumbiaCare employee. The Intern will receive close and direct supervision by an appropriate Clinical Supervisor.

Internship Goal:

To gain clinical experience in mental health services by providing billable services to clients and increase clinical knowledge by assisting QMHP in the diagnoses, treatment, and monitoring of the mental health needs of clients.

Responsibilities: Intern will have 1 hour each week with each client, plus facilitate two group meetings. You will assist in clinical documentation, such as gathering Comprehensive Mental Health Assessment (CMHA) as well as researching and writing clinical reports.

Work Schedule: 10 hours per week, some schedule flexibility is available (determined in interview)

Intern will have 7 direct contact hours and 3 indirect hours per week.

Qualifications

Interns MUST:

(a) Be currently enrolled in a graduate program for a master’s degree in psychology, social work or in a behavioral science field;

(b) Have a collaborative educational agreement with the CMHP, or another provider, and the graduate program;

(c) Work within the scope of his/her practice and competencies identified by the policies and procedures for credentialing of clinical staff as established by provider;

(d) Receive, at minimum, weekly supervision by a qualified clinical supervisor employed by the provider of services.

MUST be QMHA Certified or meet eligibility qualifications to register with MHACBO.

State of Oregon QMHA credentials criteria:

a) Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science: Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or Human Development;

b) OR minimum 6,000 HOURS verifiable mental health experience working with Severe Persistent Mental Illness population in a supervised social service setting;

c) OR equivalent combination of behavioral science education in addition to satisfactory supplemental mental health experience and training

Successful applicants MUST also have a valid Oregon driver's license, maintain a safe driving record, and the ability to pass a DHS criminal background check.
