Hey You! Yeah, you with the inquisitive mind, compassionate heart, and perennial dirt tan. I want to tell you about a place called Camp Augusta, located in northern California. Where do I begin?
I could start with the wish, wonder, and surprise of life as a counselor, living with and supporting five campers in a cabin in the woods for the summer, all the while learning more than you ever thought you could about relating to children in a manner that empowers their growth and independence.
Or maybe I could list the 150+ activity offerings (which counselors facilitate), the extensive website (www.campaugusta.org) or the longest summer camp staff training in the country (3.5 weeks). I could dabble in the theoretical underpinnings (flat hierarchy, nonviolent communication, intentional speech) or the demographics (95 campers, 60+ staff, goats, chickens, horses, the occasional unicorn). And thats only the beginning!
We are currently seeking:
-Male counselors mentoring campers in our older and younger boys villages! Must have experience working with youth. All roles for female counselors have been filled for 2019.
-Kitchen staff, cooking up nutritious, organic, and fresh meals to fuel summer fun!
Staff must be 19 or older (3 years older than our oldest camper) and available between May 14 - Augusta 10. Housing and meals provided.
