Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Part-Time Multimedia Instructor: Web Design, and Game & App Design (Pool)Allan Hancock College is accepting applications to establish a pool of qualified candidates to teach remote at the Santa Maria Campus for fall 2020 and spring 2021 in Multimedia: Responsive Web Design; and Game & App Design. The ideal candidate will share the Colleges' commitment to educating a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population.This position is a “pool” position meaning that openings may or may not be currently available. The District maintains a “pool” of applications for positions which are needed on an ongoing basis at Allan Hancock College. The advantage of “pool” positions is when a position becomes available, the Dean may immediately begin screening applications from the available pool of applicants without having to post a position and wait while the position is being advertised. Salary Range: Lecture Rate: $48.00 - $73.50 per hour depending upon education and experience Lab Rate: $41.80 to $64.00 per hour depending upon education and experience Activity Rate: $30.80 to $48.21 per hour depending upon education and experienceDuties and Responsibilities:The duties below are representative of the duties of the classification and are not intended to cover all of the duties performed by the incumbent(s) of any particular position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the scope of work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to this classification.Essential Functions include the following:1. Teach college courses in Multimedia: Web Design and/or Game & App design2. In addition faculty are required to assist in curriculum revisions and new course development, consult with students during office and lab hours and maintain expertise in current technologies; and perform other professional duties as are required by contract and general institutional needs.Minimum Qualifications: Possession of any Bachelor's degree AND two years of professional experience OR an Associate degree AND six years of professional experience OR the equivalent (see below) Three years' experience working in the multimedia/web design/game and app design field Two years' experience in instruction or formalized education process, preferably in a post-secondary or college institution Experience in a variety of multimedia development software tools, including the Adobe CC package Experience in scripting: CSS, JavaScript, and ActionScript Experience in developing apps and/or games using Unity software Competency in the use of supporting software such as the Microsoft OS and Office Suite and a variety of internet browsers Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staffFor persons applying for this position based on Equivalence, please answer the supplemental question on the online application indicating one or more of the following:Degree Equivalence:The applicant possesses a degree(s) with similar content to those listed for the relevant discipline. The name of the degree is close to that specified on the Disciplines List but the degree either has a different title or area of expertise or the coursework is slightly different.Academic Background Equivalence:Related to disciplines in which a Master's Degree is not generally expected or available. The applicant must have completed at least 24 semester units of coursework in the academic field and must possess at least the equivalent level of achievement and the equivalent in breadth, depth of understanding, and rigor in each of the following:i) a broad cultural education usually met by the general education requirements for any Bachelor's or Associate's Degree, andii) a detailed study of the discipline in breadth, depth, and rigor, usually met by course work required for the degree major.Professional Achievement Equivalence:The applicant must have completed the General Education requirements for that degree and show evidence of outstanding professional achievement and/or substantial training in the requested field. Recent successful experience in teaching or preparation to teach college-level courses in multimedia. Please indicate your areas of specialty in the cover letter.2. Demonstrated knowledge of health and safety issues in labs and materials use.3. Ability to ensure consistent and appropriate assessment of student progress.4. Commitment to maintain currency in the discipline and related technology appropriate to instruction.5. A commitment to the teaching profession, its goals and ideals.6. Enthusiasm for, understanding of, and commitment to the role and purpose of the community college.7. Skill and experience to motivate students from a broad spectrum of cultural, socioeconomic, and language backgrounds.8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.9. Experience in Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and Illustrator 10. Proficient in hand-coding XHTML and CSS.11. Traditional graphic design training.12. Basic knowledge of Animate, Unity, and video editing in not required, but beneficial.13. Industry experience either in a design studio or freelancing.14. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to build successful relationships with students.15. Outstanding conflict resolution skills.16. Demonstrated time management and detail-oriented skills.17.
