Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Department: Maintenance

Reports To: Maintenance and Engineering Manager

Job Summary: Experienced mechanic to assemble, maintain and repair machinery and vehicles. This position will be responsible for ensuring functionality and reliability of machines, engines and mechanical systems. An excellent mechanic must have manual dexterity and great attention to detail. Must be able to work with various vehicles and tools as well as follow all safety precautions. All tasks will be performed while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company. The Maintenance Manager may assign other duties to be completed by the mechanic.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following:

Build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements.

Basic repairs and maintenance to vehicles, tractors, forklifts, diesel, gas and liquid propane engine repairs, in addition to small equipment such as lawn mowers, chain saws etc.

Inspect machines, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic test to discover functionality issues.

Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability.

Troubleshoot, report problems and resolve them in a timely manner.

Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems.

Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components.

Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery.

Keep logs of work and report on issues.

Complete all PM's (Preventive Maintenance) in a timely manner.

Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Undertake other duties as assigned (e.g. repair of hydraulic systems, tire repairs etc.)

Wear appropriate PPE according to Standard Operating Procedures and job requirements

Ensure all work performed in accordance with safety policies and regulations to promote safety.

Perform various other duties as required which may include assisting other departments.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Proven experience as Mechanic

Excellent knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electronic equipment and other systems and their components

Aptitude in using various hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers etc.)

Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instructions, schematics

A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines

Very good communication skills and works well with others

Self motivated and able to take initiative and work with minimum supervision.

A problem-solving ability

Very good physical strength and stamina

Bilingual a plus but not required

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent and 8 years work experience as a mechanic. Should have ability to diagnose mechanical problems and make minor to medium level repairs to company equipment. Knowledge of standard materials, tools and equipment and skill in the use and care of tools. Knowledge of building and equipment maintenance/repair techniques. Skill in applying building and equipment maintenance/repair technique.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and short memos

Ability to write simple correspondence.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret miscellaneous drawings and schematics.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess or obtain within 60 days of employment a State of California CDL Class C driver's license.
