Leading marketing agency in San Luis Obispo is looking for a GRAPHIC DESIGNER with attention to detail, enthusiasm and a collaborative spirit. Verdin is a team of creative experts who specialize in strategic marketing through creative services, public relations, social media, advertising and digital marketing, and our clients benefit from the creative problem solving skills of our graphic designers.

The GRAPHIC DESIGNER is a mid-level position in the design department and works on assigned projects under the direction of the Art Director. The designer works up concepts and fulfills layout assignments according to supplied strategic and creative input. The designer may, on occasion, work directly with account staff.

Knowledge of production processes, with experience in Adobe Creative Cloud software including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and other industry design and production software; reasonable drawing skills; prepress and printing processes knowledge; familiarity with typestyles, type design and type specification; stock photography; retouching and image manipulation and good communication skills are desirable. Experience with digital design (digital ads, eblasts, web design, etc) is preferred.

Reports to the Art Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides design and illustration (digital and/or traditional) from conception to completion as required.

Works with art director to complete assigned projects and campaigns.

Works on a variety of design projects from conceptual design to executing ongoing campaigns to production design, as needed.

Maintains high skill levels in software programs required to perform assigned job functions; takes training in the use of new design and illustration software as the agency requires.

Assists in archiving and maintaining digital files, project hard copies, photography, illustrations, logo art, typestyles, historical collateral samples, etc., of client materials and resources.

Maintains current computer software skills compatible with the needs of other creative team members.

Notifies designated purchasing personnel or art director when hardware/software requires updating or servicing.

Working to tight deadlines and stays within assigned budgets.

Producing accurate and high quality work.

Working effectively in a collaborative team.

Thinking creatively to produce new ideas.

Other duties as assigned.
