Blair Engineering is a local San Luis Obispo small business. We manufacture high-speed turbomachinery and other industrial equipment. We have been in business since 2012 and are looking to fill new positions as we expand.

ABOUT THE POSITION

We are looking for an experienced CNC Lathe Set-Up Machinist-Programmer to join our team. The Machinist-Programmer is responsible for programming, setting up and operating a CNC lathe to machine tight-tolerance parts while adhering to quality and safety standards; keeping records, maintaining equipment and conserving supplies. This position requires excellent time management skills, critical thinking abilities and close attention to detail. The ideal candidate for this job is someone with an easygoing, positive attitude who is able to work independently but also willing to take direction. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Accurately read and interpret drawings, sketches and other written instructions to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished part, sequence of operations and setup requirements.

Hand programming of HAAS lathes.

If necessary, machine jaws for precise work holding; setup of tooling in turret-style turning centers.

Setup and adjustment of feeds and speeds as necessary.

Proving of programs on the machine; adjustment of offsets to meet print dimensions and tolerances.

Effectively communicate with engineering and others to problem solve.

Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, height gage, etc).

Produce machined parts to the highest quality and in the most efficient manner.

Maintain a clean and organized working environment.

Work independently to manage time, schedule and prioritization with input from supervisor.

Ask questions, clarify instructions and take constructive feedback in a professional manner.

Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 1 year experience in hand programming and setting up lathes.

General knowledge of lathe part fixturing and tool holding.

Experience with HAAS machines is preferred.

Able to be drug-free (our policy requires random drug screening).

Able to lift, stack and move heavy materials (50+ pounds); climb ladders, etc.

High school diploma or equivalent.

CA driver's license.

DETAILS

Hours: Full-time, Monday - Friday.

Interview: Includes a hands-on component.

Pay: Salaried; $25-$35 per hour, dependent on experience and skill level.
