Job Description

The Engineering Associate will work in a small team to develop, design, and install innovative algae production facilities for clients in aquaculture, biofuels, and human foods/nutritional products. You will work in an engineering-manufacturing-research setting alongside experienced industry professionals, including licensed California Civil Engineers, a unique opportunity for engineers in training to meet requirement for engineering licensing exams.

Duties

Assist in the planning, design, equipment specification, assembly, and maintenance of algae production

research systems, including web-enabled SCADA electronics.

Coordinate with vendors, manufacturers, subcontractors, and customers.

Help build research systems including piping, pumps, control systems, mechanical systems, motors, and

variable frequency drives.

Assist with technical writing.

Prepare engineering drawings.

Opportunities to develop skills in client communications and sales.

Preferred Qualifications

Civil / Environmental / Mechanical / Agricultural engineering or similar experience.

Experience with 3-D modeling in SketchUp or similar drafting software.

Ability to interpret vendor specifications for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment and

components.

Desire to keep complete, concise, clear records; be organized and schedule tasks based on project needs.

Able to safely lift 30 lbs.

Valid drivers license.

Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Desired Education

BS or MS degree or equivalent experience in fields such as BioResources & Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Civil Engineering.
