Local engineering firm is looking to fill a variety of positions within our SLO development office. Positions range from operator to engineer “ one person may meet many of these qualifications and/or fill the needs of more than one position. Nuance Designs is an engineering firm that develops disposable drug delivery devices. Our downtown SLO facility is a fully functioning prototyping and fabrication studio.

Positions are part-time to start with full-time potential depending on qualifications and experience (temp to permanent). Hours are flexible and can be set to work around a school schedule.

Positions and skill sets include but are not limited to:

Operator: Responsible for running manufacturing equipment “ CNC, prototype device assembly and testing. Ideal candidate has a technical mind and problem solving attitude.

Shop/Lab Technician: In addition to part fabrication, a shop technician is responsible for the set up, CAM development and testing of fabrication processes. Lab duties could include designing characterization experiments and performance testing and verification of engineering designs. In addition, job responsibilities include writing reports, operating 3D printers, and laser engravers. An ideal candidate has experience with automation programming and robotics.

Project engineer: A project engineer is responsible for the development of a project from design concept to manufacturing. A design engineer must have industry experience and fluency in all key aspects of project development including, CAD/Solidworks, manufacturing processes, prototype fabrication, design verification, coordination with vendors and contractors, as well as project and small team management. Well qualified candidates will have experience in manufacturing engineering “ DFM/DFA, prototype development & management, plastic injection molded part design, stamping, and springs. Experience with automation platforms and electronics, specifically Arduino and LabVIEW is preferred. The ideal Project Engineer candidate seeks innovative solutions to problems, thrives in a team environment and excited by making new things.
