Part-Time Lab/Research Assistant Position
Location: San Luis Obispo, CA
Department: Biological Sciences Department and Biochemistry and Chemistry Department
Job Description: A lab assistant or research assistant performing cutting edge, interdisciplinary biomedical research under the supervision of scientists. A significant amount of your time will involve processing of samples collected from animal research studies and performing various biochemical analysis.
Job Duties: The lab/research assistant will be responsible for sample preparation, such as protein, DNA and RNA isolation; protein purification; ELISA; performance of SDS-PAGE and Western blotting techniques; and RT-qPCR analysis. Additional duties will be assigned as needed. Keeping a lab notebook, data analysis as well as general lab maintenance as directed by PI will be required.
Required QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of a MS in biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology or one of a related biosciences and one year of laboratory work.
Must be able to independently and proficiently perform Western blotting procedure.
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft office.
Ability to work with general guidance, strong organizational ability, strong analytical skills, ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.

Salary: Hourly $14-18 (based on the skills and performance)
Total Hours: 19-20 hours/week; 8-5p, Monday-Friday (must have three days of availability from 8:00AM-5:00PM throughout the year.)
