Audio Description Describer/DirectorSummary:Within the organization's Video Accessibility group, the Audio Description (AD) Describer/Director works. To make descriptive audio tracks for English-language marketing video content, the describer/director collaborates with a small team of describer/directors, audio engineers, and voice actors.The team primarily creates customer-facing content for simple accessibility, such as quick product films, how-tos, content shot on devices for demos, and more. The audio description team's primary duties now include longer content, such as keynote speeches and product launches. The team also provides a limited amount of internally focused content, such as training films and meetings for staff communications.The Describer/Director must be adaptable and able to accommodate the varying timetables, workflows, and styles needed for various types of content.This position collaborates closely with various accessibility stakeholders, video producers, video delivery managers, and other post-production teams, particularly those that specialize in closed captioning and compression. Although training will be provided to candidates without it, the ideal candidate will be familiar with both audio description/video accessibility difficulties and the video production pipeline.Key Qualifications:
- Deep understanding of audio description and video accessibility concerns
- Demonstrated mastery of the English language
- Audio description and/or creative writing experience
- Extreme attention to detail in both script writing and editing
- Strong conceptual and problem-solving skills
- Flexible schedule to accommodate varied production demands
- Proven experience working with a nimble and dynamic team
- Experience with film, video, and/or commercial projects preferred
- Familiarity with audio editing software and workflows preferred
- Work with team of vendors and employees to provide audio description services
- Create high-quality AD scripts following internal style guides
- Update and maintain style guides and resources as needed
- Act as subject-matter expert on audio description writing
- Bachelor's or equivalent degree preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of writing and/or audio description experience
