About the Team

The Global Scaled Solutions (GSS) engineering team makes tools that help operations, engineers and business teams. We develop solutions that help Uber operations to manage Uber's vast network, data scientists and ML experts to label data and engineers to increase the productivity through higher visibility into the systems. The work we do, helps us improve the quality of our maps, navigation, ETAs, places, pickups, drop-offs and other important building blocks of our business.

The internationalization team is solving difficult problems such as: Uber ships its application to the app store continuously. There are hundreds of engineers committing to these repositories. You will seamlessly integrate high quality, up-to-date translations into that flow.

What You'll Do

Uber is a global company that operates in many markets. It is essential for our products to feel local everywhere. You'll join a team that is building and supporting part of the complete backend infrastructure for internationalization(i18n) at Uber. Your work will directly impact 1000s of Uber engineers (both mobile and backend) to help them localize their products. Millions of daily transactions and users of Uber platform will depend on the systems you will be developing. You will build/deploy and support services that deliver high quality translated content to the Uber apps and services using the best/latest practices at Uber. You will be responsible for collaborating with external third party providers that Uber i18n is connected to. You will also be responsible to collaborate and help out the localization team and cater to their needs.

Basic Qualifications

3+ years of software engineering experience
Strong coding/debugging abilities with at least one coding language. We work with Golang, Java, Python, MySQL & NoSQL
Knowledge of data structures and an eye for architecture. Ability to discuss the tradeoffs between architectural choices, both on a theoretical level and on an applied level.
Ability to craft database schemas in an extensible way.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to use your unique background and experiences to tackle the problems mentioned above. Knowledge of i18n/L10n is a huge plus.
Experience cross collaborating with multiple org to drive impact.
