About the Role

The Sr. Category Manager is part of the P&A Marketplace Success team, whose charter is to grow the category by making eBay a trusted and top-of-mind destination for P&A buyers. In this role, you will evolve the current buyer journey and make it outstanding. This includes understanding our buyers and their end-to-end experience, which can be thought of in three phases: initial consideration, purchase, and post-purchase/loyalty. As key P&A initiatives are implemented, you will partner with business and product teams to align the user experience in these phases in order to facilitate purchase and repurchase. You will monitor and improve performance of these phases by identifying long term gaps and defining priorities to address these gaps. You will also regularly report journey performance to the Motors leadership team and partner groups. This role requires someone who takes a comprehensive view to problem solving, thinks strategically, and has a record of influencing decision making across cross-functional teams.

This role will be located in the SF/SJ Bay Area.

Responsibilities
  • Understand the needs of different P&A customer segments
  • Guide the end-to-end buyer journey to optimize for purchases and buyer retention
  • Build scorecards to report buyer journey performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and address performance gaps
  • Partner with product teams and/or other Marketplace Success category managers to conceptualize, test, and iterate solutions as well as meet measurable goals
  • Identify strategic opportunities and define initiatives to address them

Qualifications
  • Passion for operating ecommerce businesses and/or two-sided marketplaces
  • Track record of success defining strategies and implementing operating plans
  • Strong cross-functional partner with experience leading through influence
  • Strong oral verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to tell a compelling story backed by data
  • Data-led approach to planning and decision making. Comfortable and hands-on with data, analytics, and modeling
  • Organized problem solver who balances attention to detail with strategic efficiency
  • Desire to engage with customers directly and passionate about helping eBay win!

Requirements
  • 7-9+ years of related experience in ecommerce or similar online business
  • 3+ years at a management consultancy or investment bank
  • BA/BS required, MBA or similar graduate degree preferred but not required
