We are a team of passionate scientists and engineers who are developing solutions to offer end-to-end workflows to support customers working in environmental, food and beverage safety, pharmaceutical, life sciences, electronics, semiconductor, power, and industrial markets.How will you make an impact?When you’re part of the team at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you’ll do important work, like helping customers in finding cures for cancer, protecting the environment or making sure our food is safe. You will be responsible for managing a team of scientists in the leading-edge R&D activities related to the development of new and innovative ion chromatography systems and workflowsWhat will you do?Conduct leading-edge research and development in the field of ion chromatography and related instrumentation, especially in the areas of electrolytic membrane devices that provide electrolytic eluent generation and suppression for ion chromatography.

Manage R&D activities and provide project oversight and direct and indirect report management responsibilities.

Act as a leader in multiple R&D projects

Serve as a technical expert to senior management

Investigate, create, and validate new ion chromatographic technologies and methodologies.

Manage significant technical/scientific project activities to execute strategies and technical solutions that meet customer needs and drive business growth

Lead technical discussions with a high level of technical proficiency.

Make decisions that require developing new options to solve complex problems.

Determine methods and procedures on new assignments and coordinate activities with cross-functional teams

Provide leadership to assigned staff by leading organizational change, driving innovation, developing and empowering staff, cultivating relationships, helping staff to meet their personal career goals

Manage collaboration activities by working closely with project team members and other cross-functional groups including marketing, applications, and business development

Write, revise and approve R&D project progress reports and technology transfer protocols.

Write invention disclosures and possible patent applications.

Stay current with relevant technologies and be able to identify and justify new equipment needs.

How will you get here?With a PhD degree, at least 5 years of relevant industry experience required

With a Master’s degree, at least 10 years of relevant industry experience required

Prior experience with direct reports in a supervisory role is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesIn depth knowledge of ion chromatography, ion exchange materials, ion exchange membranes, electrochemistry, and analytical detection methods.

Well versed in analytical chemistry principles and analytical method development
